So Great Salvation
Heb 2:3
2-22-08
This is a summary of a message preached during the missions’ conference by Corey Riggs, missionary to Poland.
He started by asking, “What makes salvation so great?” The answer is:
The price He paid – Jesus had to shed God’s blood
Whom He saved – he saved his enemies
When He saves – he saves while we are yet sinners
How He saves – without breaking the law or justifying sins or sinners; in perfect righteousness
Then, in order to magnify the greatness of salvation, he began teaching a few of the 28 things that happen to us when we get saved:
Eph 1:13 – He seals us with the Spirit of God [He’s the seal] – nobody can break this seal
Col 1:13 – He translates us into his kingdom – compare 2 Sam 3:10 – he puts us into his kingdom – now we are illegal aliens in the earth
Tit 3:5 – He regenerates us – we are new creatures – we are children of God by the new birth and by adoption – we have a new nature – we are not what we were – by contrast, if a pig could be dolled up to look like a beauty queen by a plastic surgeon, a cosmetologist and a dress designer, it would still be a pig as would be revealed by its affinity for mud
For the sake of time, he then examined the context of the verse in Heb 2 to reveal that there are four witnesses to this great salvation:
Heb 2:3 – It began to be spoken by the Lord
Heb 2:3 – It was confirmed by them that heard him
Heb 2:4 – God also bore them witness
Heb 2:4 – and the Holy Spirit witnessed with miracles and gifts
So, he concluded that if all of the Trinity is involved in testifying of this great salvation and if those who heard him testified of it, as well, then we are obligated to testify of the great salvation that we have. As new creatures, it is only natural that we would.
Amen!
