CHRISTIANS STAY AWAY FROM THE WORLD
Gen. 26:2
From our lesson last week, we saw instruction that God gave Isaac regarding staying out of Egypt. Egypt is a type of the world and when we study what Egypt did to the Jews, we see the reasons that God doesn't want Christians in love with the world. The world will do the following things to you. However, since we still live in the world, though we are not of the world, we need a spiritual protection against the world. That protection comes directly from the Lord Jesus Christ, himself. Just look at the verses below to see what Egypt did to the Jews, and, therefore, what the world does to us, and then what Christ does to protect us from the same treatment by the world.

What the world does
To Christians |
What Egypt did

What Christ does to
Protect us |
| Puts you in bondage | Ex. 3:19; Ex. 6:5 | Jn. 8: 33-36 |
| Enslaves you | Ex. 1:13 | Rom. 6: 16-18 |
| Burdens you | Ex. 6:7 | Matt. 11: 28-30 |
| Afflicts you | Deut. 26:6 | Rom. 8: 35-38; 1 Pet. 4:13-19 |
| Fights you | 1 Ki. 14: 25; Ex. 14:10 | Eph. 6: 10-18 |
| Gives you false gods | Ex. 32:1 | 1 Jn. 5: 20-21 |
| Gives you false prophets | Deut. 13:5 | Acts 3: 19-22 |
| Fails you | Is. 19:3; 30:3; 30:7 | Heb. 13: 5; 1 Cor. 10: 13 |
| Gives you diseases | Deut. 28 7 | Gospels (healing); Rev. 21: 4 |
| Steals your treasure | Gen. 47:13-21; 2 Chr. 12:9 | Matt. 6: 20-21 |
| Murders your children | Ex. 1:15 | Lk. 18: 16; Matt. 18: 6 |
| Destroys you | Jer. 42:17 | Jn. 10: 9-10 |
As you will see by examining the scriptures above, Jesus Christ has provided protection for us against every one of these things the world uses to hurt us. And even in cases where, for instance, the Lord can heal someone and chooses not to do it yet, we have the assurance that he will one day give us a glorified body that will never get sick (Rev. 21:4) and give us a new heaven and a new earth where there will be no more disease. AMEN!!
