We have here on the desk a New International Version, copyright © 1973, 1978, 1984 by International Bible Society. There is a preface in this Bible that makes the following statements:

"From the beginning of the project, the Committee on Bible Translation held to certain goals for the New International Version: that it would be an ‘accurate’ translation…"

"As for the traditional pronouns … the translators judged that to use these archaisms … would violate ‘accuracy’ in translation."

We emphasized the word "accuracy" in both quotations so that you could see the stated goal of the translators.

However, what we are about to show you will solidly prove that the translators goofed when it came to accuracy concerning who killed Goliath. They tell you straight out in the text that someone other than David killed him. That’s incredible since there are so many lost men, women and children who know Goliath’s destroyer, and they’ve never even read a Bible.

Would you like to see the lie for yourself? Okay, look at 2 Sam. 21:19. If you don’t happen to have an NIV, we’ll quote the passage for you:

"In another battle with the Philistines at Gob, Elhanan son of Jaare-Oregim the Bethlehemite killed Goliath the Gittite, who had a spear with a shaft like a weaver’s rod."

Did you see it? We emphasized the fellow’s name to help you out. The NIV says that Elhanan killed Goliath. We actually had someone try to defend this lie by suggesting that this Goliath must have been another giant by the same name. Nope. Not even the NIV would make that assertion.

We find in 1 Chr. 20:5, that the NIV tells you who Elhanan really killed. He killed Goliath’s brother.

"In another battle with the Philistines, Elhanan son of Jair killed Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, who had a spear with a shaft like a weaver’s rod."

So, the NIV lies about Elhanan killing Goliath and then later records a contradiction, saying that Elhanan killed Goliath’s brother, instead.

Who was Goliath’s slayer? Well, David, of course. See 1 Sam. 21:9. If you want accuracy, stick with the tried and true King James Bible, God’s words in English!!
