March 2010
We
haven’t written a newsletter in
quite some time. So, here is an
update that will hopefully let
you know a little of what has
been going on lately.
We
have changed the time of our
weekday broadcast on AM 1030
KCTA. Our new broadcast time is
4:00 pm Monday through Friday.
Several folks have recently
inquired about the time noting
that they could not find us at
the old time of 3:00 pm. So, we
are going to produce a couple of
15-second and 30-second radio
spot ads to remind people where
and when they can find us.
We
still see visitors in the church
from time to time as a result of
the radio broadcast. It is
always good to see radio
listeners, particularly when the
Lord directs you to us. We have
seen many folks looking for
straight Bible preaching and
teaching from the Bible. And it
is always good to hear the
testimonies of lives changed by
good old fashioned Bible
preaching.
Recently, I asked one of our
families, whose children are in
college, how they have managed
to escape the worldly corruption
that is so prevalent on college
campuses today. Their daughter
answered without a moment’s
hesitation. She said that there
are three things that have kept
her in line with the Lord.
These are not necessarily in
order of importance since all
three are of major importance.
The first is the Bible and
prayer. She said that by
reading the Bible she is getting
the light she needs to live in
this dark world and that by
prayer she is finding that God
is real in her everyday life.
He helps her personally at
school. The second is her
church. She said that the
preaching and teaching of the
words of God has kept her clean
and given her wisdom. The third
is living at home. She has the
constant support of her family
and the constant accountability
to her very loving mother and
father. Sounds like profound
words of wisdom to me.
The
other day, I was visiting a
family grieving the impending
loss of their father. We have
known this family for years.
They came to us as a result of
the radio broadcasts. They had
been in a church that twisted
some of the doctrines of the
Bible into heresies. Yet, they
loved their pastor and the
people in that church dearly.
When the husband started
listening to the truth from the
words of God, he said to his
wife, “That man is preaching the
truth.” And so, in spite of his
love for his pastor and his
friends in the church, he could
not stay and continue to subject
his family to false teaching.
Following the Holy Spirit, he
led his family away from the
heresies and into the truth of
God’s words. A move like that
takes a very courageous man, a
person who is not ashamed of the
truth and the price one has to
pay to find it. Would to God
there were more men just like
him.
We
thank God for the privilege to
preach his word. We are not
worthy but he is. So thanks be
unto God!! May the Lord bless
you!!
